To comnlete
this project and to provide proper access, we have made
anplication to the Enineering Department for a 35 foot
drivecaav, about the center of the block. The EneineerinR
Denartment has informed us that in order to obtain a
Permit we would be required to install a curb and Rutter
and a sidewalk for the entire len;th of the boock, which
is 380 feet.
Northern Pacific Freia,ht DeDot, which orcuoied the
corner at Everett Avenue for a Preat many vears, has
recentiv been removed. A requirement for a sidewalY, and
curb for 380 feet in order to install an ordinarv small
driveway is inposin an unfair and uniust burden on this
moderate imnrovement.
47e have noted that the railroad occuoied that property
for a rreat manv vears and was not reQuired to maY.e anv
imnrovement. The Citv has allowed the roadwaV to be used
without limit or restriction or the reauirement to imnrove
the same. Our contractor has also informed us that in
order to install the curb and the sidewalk it will be
necessarV to chunk cut that 20 foot nortion of the street
4hich is shown on the diaram included herein.
Lde believe that svch an extensive street improvement
is the oblivation of the Citv and siould not be imnosed
uoon the alreadv burden taKnaver. !•] have sur,a,esteci to the
Enrineerin; Department that if the City would sunply the
labor, we would share cost by supplyin material for this
e>:tensive job.
Thc enclosed dia?ram, marked in red lines is the area
anich .s part of the C,ity street and the State:Hiphway sV&'tem.
'I'he drawina, also indicates, from the City records, the
existence of a curb line, wLich is not now present.
" . •, --,. _— . , ,,, - ._...,_.. , __. .
