From our
discussions wiLh you, we have learned that the roperty wes
formerly the site of a petroleum depot, and that several
underground storage tanks may have been located on the property.
During the subeurface exploratiun activity, eleveted
concentretions of petroleum Iydrocarbons were detected in fitl
and organic soiTs. Oroundwater "perched" on native hard eilt
sails also appeared to be affected by the petroleum.
At your request, sampling and laboratory analysis for
contamination wns apecifically excluded from our scope of
sarvices, and this request has been respected. Regardless of the
issue of sampling or analysis, our field observations as
described in the preceding para4raph saem adequate to draw tha
conclusion that soil and possibly groundwater at the subject site
are contaminated. The issues of tlie degree and extent of Lhe
contemination remain to be quantified.
As a professional engineering and eivironmental consulting
organization, we hold the protection of client intereste high on
our list of objectives and prioritie:;. For tliet reason, we offer
for your considcration the foliowing discu5sion in the hope that
' it is of valuc• 'in planniny yuur future a.tion aL the site.
--- ';
1
i
 -
L
