The
argument being proposed for not installing rigid insulation
to the outside of foundation walls is as follows:
1) The situation only occurs where 2' x 4' stud walls
sit to thP outside of the 8" concrete foundation
wall thus exposing 4 1/2" of the top at the wall
to the interior.
I 2) The total linear feet at this sitvation is
 approximately 75' . 75' x 4 1/2" = 2£S•1 sq. ft.
i ` 3) Tne 'R' value of the concrete wall is assumed to
be :ibout equal to double paned glazing or R-1.6.
4) The area of heated wall is 3,487 sq. ft.
1 --
5) 32 allowable glazing area would equal 1 ,115.8 sq.
, ft.
t G) Actual glazing area equals 1,054 sq. ft. This

leaves 61.8 sq. ft. to spare.
7) Since the area of concrete, when added to the
' glazing area, does not bring the total over 32g of
'' the wall area - then obviously this building would
pass code requirements if a component analysis was
; .,,i,, perf ormed.
, ,.
u;d.
:-i„
,;uaa.
lAt v:
li +1_ y F` t t .r
1
il_'i-ldi0 '?t ''-"'.
x •:5i< . , . .
