EVERETT, WASNNGTON "
• -_ _ ; '. . .
1
As per •our request, I looked into the parkin situation at Dimitri's Tavern,
specifically the status oi a parkin lot on the southwest corner of 32nd and
Sroadway. '
Both the tavern and the parking lot were purchased by a Dfr. Korounas a few years
ago. The lot was purchased to satisfy the paricing requirements for the remodeled
tavern. Subsequently, Mr. Korounas defaulted on the tavern and ownership reverted
to the previous owner, Mrs. Colliers. He then defaulted on the parkir.g lot pro—
perty which reverted to its paevious owner, *ir. Brinkley.
While it was intended that the parking lot was to be used for the eavern, we now
face a situation where the two properties are owned hp two partiec who were not
prirticipants in the orig•:nal ag:eement. When this matter arose several months
ao, we determined that any attempt to force the lot to be used for accessory
parking would be fruitless and unwarranted in lighY of the facts. Mr. Shockey
informed Pfr. Brinkley's agent of this at the ti.me and told him that the City would
not block future use of his property.
The ability of a business .property owner to separate and sell his legally required
parking area is an obvious defect in our current ordinance; one which we will
pro•;ose to correct in the Code revision due for adoption next year.
cc: Mayor Anderson •
George Eastman
j .
I — ^ a • _,_ • .
.
l i _
