SUM?•'ITRY
3220 Broadway
January 22, 1976
On January 22, 1975 I received a complaint that the dwelling at
3220 IIroadway was open to the public and being used by transients.
An inspection of the property on January 23, 1975, revealed that
the structure was badly deteriorated atid substandard. The building
was posted on Januarv 2G, 1975 and a correction letter was maile3
to fir. Arthur Stribling, the contract purc9aser of the property , on
January 27 , 1975.
During a reinsoection of the property on t9arch 3, 1975 I noticed
that nothing had been done and, at that time, I contacted P9r.
Stribling, by telephone, who promised to secure the building and
clean up the area.
I noticed that some work was being done to the property during :9ay
1975 but the work came to a halt and I again contacted Mr. Stribling,
on July 30, 1975, who again promised to clean up the area and
continue work on the building.
After Z £ound the structure open, unattended, and being used by
transients on October 16 , 1975, I issued a Notice of Unsafe Building
to f1r. Stribling which called for demolition within 30 days. '."r.
Stribling did not respond to this notice or make any attempt to
improve the property.
On November 20, 1975 I contacted I7r. Str. iblinq by telenhone and
he stated that he deeded the property bacY, to the original owner
Mr. Patrick Crowe. I contacted f1r. Crowe by teleohone and hc
confirmed this. Iie indicated that he would hae someone secure
the building.
D1r. Charles Carver contacted me on December 10, 1975 an3 said
that he was going to buy the glace to fir, it up. He a?so promised
to properly secure the building and clean up the yard.
On January 20, 1976 I noticed that, although someone had nailed
a few 2 x 4 ' s over the windows and doors, the property was in .
essentially the same condition.
