E .
Dear Mr. Callahan :
In regards to the report by Sam Preston , Assistant Fire Marshal ,
stating that the two north bays in the basement stroage area of
the above referenced buiiding should have the trusses and the
columns protected .
In June of 1985 , we made a specific point to meet with the Fire
Department and the Building Department to be sure of the require-
ments in these areas . At that time , it was recommended tiat if
the bay area was to be used for storing autos or trucks we put
in a fire rated suspended ceiling , which we did in the large bay .
Vehicles are not parked in the two north bays . We have made a
special point prior to occupancy to insure the space will not be
used tc park or store vehicles . If the purpose of the space were
to change and vehicles might be parked in the bay , we would make
the required change at that time.
It is not now feasible for us to make ::^se changes , and Nie feel
it is unjustifible to hold up our buildiig permits when we haA
confirmed what was wanted and did rhat was required at that time .
I will agree to fire proof the steel columns in the large storage
bay area and will install self-closures on the doors in the large
i storage bay.
Sincerely ,
i
--j^
James L.
