Whcre in conflict, the recommendations in this Icttcr supersede the recommcndations
contained in that rcport.
7'hc original plan for development of a single family msidcnce on this sitc reyuircd thc
consWction of a 20 to 25 foot high retnining wall in order to provide a building pad high cnough
on the ptvperty ihat an access driveway ofTof Broadway Avenue was ieasiblc. In the
intcrvening months, it is our understanding that you havhad mcetings w:th both your neighbors
to thc norlh and with Ihe City of Everett. The current proposal is to devclop a building pad hy
cons.nctioof a structural fill that will also benefit and extcnd onto the neighbors property.
Irom a gcotechnical engineering stEudpoint, this is n much preferreci altemauve than
conslruction of the large wall. IIattennann Geotechnical Consulting, pllc is in full support of;hc
grading plan to fill the old erosional ravine between the two propedies with stvctural fill. Thc
rccommendations in this addendum lerier addres the geotcchnical engineering considcrauons
nccessary to complete ihe proposed grading.
'I hc cxisting fill soils and loose, slope colluvial soils will necd to bc removed from thc areas to
reccive structural fill. The non-organic portions of these materials may be re-used in the new
s(ructural till. Theibgrade soils shall be in a medium dense condition prior to placing ncw fill.
'1'hc existing culvcrt undet Broadway Avenae should be extended bcyond the plenned toc of thc
ncw structurul fill body. The new culvert should be bedded on a layer of pcavel and dicii
m.y Ue rlled over during the placement and compacGon of the ncw fill. The culvert should bc
set to discharge on a rock splash pad comprised of minimum 12 inch diameter quarry spatl rock
, that is embedded into native subgtade so the top surfacc of the rock is at existing grade. Thc
rock pad should be a minimum of 4 feet widc and 6 fect long.
Construction of the new fill should starl at the toe of the slope and work up the slox. Thc lill
shall be placed horizontally. Fill soils shou;d bc placed in littnot to excced 10 inches thick.
I?ach liti shall be compacted to a minimum of 95 percent of thc modificd Proctor value of thc fill
soil. Dcnsity testing should be performed to vcrify suitablc compaction of the fill soil. As thc _
f3GC, PLLC 14267 209°i Avenue NE Woodlnvllle, WA 9607? (425) 273-5062 //3
