Kirk Brooks
From: Dave Tyler
Set: Wednesday, December 15, 2010 3 45 PM
Ta: jeffbumett@aol com'
Cc: Kirk Bror,ks: Gerry Ervine
Subject: 7ree Removal at 7628 Broadway, Everett
Jeff,
7hanks for meeting with us in the field this morning. As mentioned previously, the proposal to selectively log the site
will require a SEPA environmental review. We understand you already have the application form. The app'ication fee
will be $350. We would attempt to complete the application review as quickly as possible.
We also discussed the intermittent stream that runs through the site. The stream is a regulated critical area and is
classified as a Type Ns stream, which requires a 50-foot buffer of native vegetation under Subsection 37.170 of the
Zoning Code. Please note that when there are steep slopes in excess of 25%, the stream buffer is increased to 25 feet
from the top-o(-bank of the 25% slope. Based on field observations this morning, it appears the 50-foot buffer will apply
and that no cutting wfll be allowed within the buffer, with the possible exception of hazard trees.
Removal of potentialy hazardous trees that are within the stream buffer will be considered on an individual basis.
These trees will need to be itemized in the appiication. "Hazard trees" are defined in the zoning code as follows:
Hazard tree means any tree that poses a threat to public saJety, orposes an
imminent risk oJdamoge to privote property. Hazord tree indudes any tree
that, undernormal environmental conditions orin windsterms common to
the PaciJic Northwest, is likely to cause damage to a structure with frequent
human use, induding residential strudures, a place of public assem6ly, and
other similar places....
Please do not hesitate to contac: me by phone or email with any questions.
Sincerely,
Dave Tyler
i,,n:.,.
'ity ot v:r,it Ylar.ninq/Ce:u;iunity Devclopment Ocpaitmcnt
.'"0 Wetmorc Av. 3uite 6-A
-:rett, WR 99J01
1J'-:'L7-17``i
