Assuming the weight of dirt to be 120
pounds per cubic foot, the total dirt load per square foot at the
pipe would be 2,400 pounds. The 60 kip load from the building
footing would be disipated at the 20 foot depLY oF abandoned
pipe to a total of 96 pounds per square foot. This adds up to
2,400 pounds per square foot from dirt plus 96 pounds per square
foot from imposrd bui7ding, adding an insignificant luad, therefore
in our opinion filling abandoned pipe should not be necessary.
Thank you for your consideration in this matter.
S+ncerely,
LANCE MUELLER & AS50CIATES/ARCHITECTS
IC ARH i" _ \
RH:nk
cc: Mr. Nawie Matteson Hart Crowser & Assoc., Inc.
The Rainier Fund Baugh Construction
Engineers N.W.
10Ikld ult fuCtl wehlnplon BB1QQ (QOe) 3Q6•@6E3
Ima mullr 1 ol e •.o1wCu robrt olohwky, Iln funy
uiuhlnplan oorparClon funlhinp arohlCotul wrvlo 6y ntl undr Oh uprvllon of rpltrd rohltac•
