Upon submission of two sets of drawings reflecting the information
requested, your application will be given priority and plan review will resume.
Mechanical
1. All submiltals should include the following:
a. Area served.
b. Nominal capacity (tons).
c. CFM.
d. Outside air CFM.
e. Type of operation: continuous or automatic.
f. Weight of RTU and weight of replacement RTU.
g. Smoke detector location (if applicable).
h. Gas heat input.
i. Anchorage details for mechanical equipment to meet structurai seismic and static loads.
j. Plan locations for the existing and new RTU. Please note on the drawings if [he new equipment
is going to be located in the same place.
2. An economizer is required for the new mechanical air handling unit, unless documentation is provided
indicating conformance with an allowable exception in WSEC section C903.3.1.1 Air Economizers.
3. If the weight of the replacement RTU is heavier than existing RTU or in a diffemnt locatron, structural
details and calcula[ions should be reviewed by a licensed Washington State Design Professional for all
suspended or rooftop mechanical units greater than 400 pounds.
a. Either the professional engineer should write a letter with a wet stamp to veriFy that the
slructure will carry the weight of the new RTU in the location shown on the rawings ; or,
b. If the existing structure is not sufficient to carry the weight or resist the seismic irnpact of the
new air handling units, the engincer will need to submit wet-stamped freming plans, details and
calculations for structural revisions required.
Applicable codes include the 2012 International Building Code, the 2012 lnternational Fire Code, the 2012
International Mechanical Code, and the 2012 Washington State Energy Code (WSEC). All codes referenced,
adopted by the City of Everett, should indude current revisions by the State of Washington.
