Berp of Berq and Berg Construction Compeny� � <br />reputable Constuct�on i,omoary� called us and a=ked that we maKc an <br />inspection of ;he detiora',lon that had occurred to tne stairw��� <br />enclosure� at the Imperial 400 W tel located at 901 Broaoway� <br />Evereti� Nashington. <br />In rryking this {nspection we noteo thet extensive dry rot had taken <br />place to tho extent that the exit stairways were extremely hazardous. <br />The supportinq members wvre barel� supporting the stalrs and the wall <br />�-nclosures were nearly tu the tumbling stage, <br />Since that time Ber� and Berg Construction has repaired these exits <br />and on AL3y 27� 1969 we made another inspection and approved the new <br />construction. /e feel that they have corrected the inade aecy thai <br />originally existed. <br />At the same inspection it was noted that {he exterior walls� have <br />appearances of the same condltions. <br />After looking at the original plans� for the motel� it was noted th.�i <br />stucco uas specified for all exterior walls but was substituted with <br />1/8 cement asbesto, board installed over ' ri r plywood. <br />The asbestos board was not properl� sealed at the joints� particularly <br />!he horizontal �oints� whieh sh,ould have had a;netal drip cap, Con_ <br />sequently water penetrated the joints and the interior plywood <br />seperated and started to dry roi and the moisture then continued on <br />into the framinq members. Of course the exact extent of damaQe can— <br />not be known untill the cement aebestos board ls removed. <br />One suggestion we have is that the asbestos board 6e rerro ved end IP <br />
