There are four items of concern that should be addressed. <br /> HANDLING OF P1iTROLEUM PRODUCTS: <br /> The following are guidelines for preventing�rollution from petroleum products on <br /> wnstruction sites: <br /> - Store pelroleum products properly <br /> - Adequetely maintain vehicles and heavy equipement <br /> - Dispose of oil and oily wastes properly(call 1-800-recycle) <br /> - Retain oil contaminated sediment on-site through the use of erosion and sediment <br /> wntrol IiMP's. <br /> SOLID WASTE HANDLING AND DISPOSAL <br /> The following practices control and reduce solid waste on construction sites: <br /> - Provide adequate disposal facilities on the construction site. � <br /> - Remove and dispose of collected solid waste at authorized disposal areas. . <br /> - Label waste containers and locate them in a covered area. Keep lids closed at all <br /> timec. <br /> - Salvage and recycle any uscful materials. <br /> - Convenicntly locate and maintain sanitary facilities. <br /> - Selectivcly remove trees and other beneficial vegetation. <br /> EQUIPMENT WA3HING: <br /> large c�nstruction equipment and parts should only be deaned at the conUactor's yard, <br /> where waste water can be properly treated prior to discharge to the sanitery sewer system. <br /> Small parts can be cleaned with degreasing solvents and detergents which are reused aRer <br /> filtering or recycled.These solvents may not be discharged into any sewer, sanitary or stortn. <br /> Further infortnation is available from the Department of Ecology. <br /> Without proper maintenance of stormwater facilities, sediment and other debris can <br /> quickly clog facilities, making them useless. Rehabilitation of such facilities is diff'icult and <br /> expensive. Polluted water and sediments removed during the cleaning operetion must be <br /> properly disposed of. Stortnwater trcatment facilities shall be maintained according to criteria or <br /> procedures presented in the City of Everett's Stormwater Management Manual Section 3-1. <br /> � <br />
