 FIELD REPORT
NEISON- Project: RESIDENTIAL HOLTSE File No.: 121594
COWREITE & Owner: DONOVAN HART Date: 1/28/94
ASSOCIATES, INC. Location: EVERE7'f Repon No.: 1
t731 i 135TH Ave. NH NA-Soo Weather: FOG / 45 DEGREFS Page: 1 of 2
Woalinville, WA 98072 PUpuSC
(2W)486-1669 FAX 481-2510 of Visit: FOUNDATION EVALUATION 13y: WB
We arrived on sile, at the requcst of Donovan Hart of the Commonwealth Group, to evaluate footing
subgrade for a planned residential house in Everett, Washington. The site is located at 6220 Cady Road,
Evcrett, Washington. Donovan Hart informed as that during excavation for exterior wall footings two areas
of soft soils were discovered. We were informed that these areas had been overexcavated to dense native soil
and replaced with rock spalls to footing subgrade elevation. The approximate location of these repaired areas
is shown on lhe atlached site plan. The cily of Everett has reyuested that the bearing capacity of the soii
underlying the repaired areas be documented by a geolechnical engineer. The footings for the planned
residence had aiready bcen poured and the majority of the framing was completed.
Upon arrival we met with Donovan Hart. Mr. Hart had excavated a test hole in the NE wrner of the
foundation prio: to our arrival. The hole had filled with water. We observed that rock spalls supported the
footing. The subgrade adjacent to the footing was evaluated by probing with a 1/2 inch diameter stcel rod.
The sleci rod was pushed through the remaining spalls in lhe test hole and into the native soil. The native
soil probed dense and is in our opinion suitable for foundation support.
A second test hole was excavated near the west side of lhe house. Water was encountered at a shallow depth.
Rock spalls were found adjacent to the footing. The soil below the rock spalls probed dense and is in our
opinion suitable for the support of foundations.
The rock spalls were observal to extend 5 and 4 feet below existing grade for the first and second test holes
respectively. It is our opinion that if the footing subgrade in these two areas was prepared as obsencd in
both of our test holes it is suitable for foundation support. _
S r, coU i ' I '
rvu Si t; I n l, .
-t•• L1 LI F Q O S 1c;,c, _
, a E
•, r
a
cri r cr EvrRrrr
    ,2'q UIdR.
