On September 14,2004 the <br /> voters passed the increase. On September 24;2004 the Snohomish County Canvassing Board certified the <br /> election. Ordinance No. 557-78 (Chapter 3.50 EMC)reflects the old rate and must be changed to reflect <br /> Proposition No. l's increase of the rate to six tenths of one percent. The proposed ordinance amends sections <br /> 1 and 5 of Ordinance No. 557-78 (EMC 3.50.010 and EMC 3.50.050)to reflect the change in rate approved <br /> by the voters. The increase in sales and use tax from three tenths of one percent to six tenths of one percent <br /> dedicated for Everett Transit is scheduled to go into effect starting January 1,the first quarter of 2005. <br /> RECOMMENDATION(Exact action requested of Council): <br /> Approve ordinance reflecting the increase in sales tax for Everett City Transit as passed by the voters <br /> in Proposition No. 1, September 14,2004 by amending Ordinance No. 557-78 (Ch. 3.50 Everett Municipal <br /> Code). <br /> 37 <br />
