Washers: Steel, cadmLum plated, to fit vithin the bolt facing on
the flanga.
E. Thermite Weld Equipment: Exothermic weld equipment specifically
designed by the ¢anufacturer for Nelding the types of materials and
shapes indicated.
F. Electrlcal Insulating Coatings: MIL-C-18480. Conformable water-tight
sealant having dielectric strength not lesa than 15 kV for a 1/8" thick
layar.
G. Tharmite Weld Caps: Molded elastic ca, 4" x 4" with 1-5/8" diameter x
0.8" high dome, filled with corroaion-realstant compound on base of
elastomaric tape; Royston Handy Cap 2 with Royston Roybond 747 primer,
or approvad equal.
PART 3 - EXECUTION
3.01 NSTALIATION:
A. NFP9 70 and ANSI C2.
B. Anodea and Lead Wires: Install each anode and lead wirn at the
indicated locations as follows:
, 1. Excavation for Anode: Auger 10" diametez hole or dig with backhoe
for each anode to a dapth t2iat vill place :he top of the anode no
lesa than 3 feet beloa the bottom of the pipe(s) .
2. Lifting Anodee: Do not llft ot aupport anodn by the lead vire.
Exercise care to pravant damaging ehe cloth bag and lead wira
insulation.
3. Installing Anode, Soil: Center tha packaged anoda in the hole and
beckf111 vith native aoil free of rocks and organic material in
layars nat excaeding 6" deep. Tamp each layer to remove voids.
When the backfill ia 6" above the top of the anode, pour not lesa
ehan 5 gallona of vater into tha hole.
4. Connecting/Terminating .lnode Lead Wiree: Connect anode lead wirea
directly to teat station and terninata s ehown.
G. Connecting Test Lead WSres and Bondint Cablee: Connct to the pipes by
use of a tharmite weld as indicated. Clean the surface by filing to
produce a clean, bright aurfaca. Inntall the thermite veld in
accordanca with the manufacturer's inatructiona. Cover connectiona
with a thermite weld cap and electrical inaulating coating.
D. Teat Stations: Install tha teat atationa •t the indicated locationa.
Set the atations Level, the tops fYush vith tha concrete surface or
grade.
1. Terminetion of Test Lead Wirea: Tarminate test lead virns inside
test atation on terminal board as aharn using ring-type crimp on
terminals on anda of virea. Provida sinimum of 18" of alack in
each rire inaide test etation.
2.
