Rail length shall be supplied in nominel 7B or 80-foot lengths. <br /> 5. A maximum of 5 percent oi the reils ordered may be shoAs. Allowable shoA lengths ahall be <br /> minirtium 80 feet. <br /> 6. All rail lengths shell be the equivalent lengths measured at a temperature oi 60 deprees F. <br /> All rails allowable lolerances tor rail;engtha shall be a variatian ot minus 7/16 inch and plus 1 <br /> inch. <br /> 7. All ralls are lo be supptied with blank ends.Reils lo be fabricaled into continuoua welded rail <br /> ehell not be end-drilled for joinl bara or any other purpose. <br /> B. Additionel requirements tor high slrength rail: <br /> 1. High etrength rail ahell confortn to requirements for high strength rail specified in the AREMA <br /> Manual tor Railwey Enpineering, Chapter 4, Part 2 Section 4. <br /> 2. High slrength rail shall be head hardened. <br /> PART 3-EXECUTION <br /> 3.1 GENERAL <br /> A. A mill ceAificate ahall be furnished to the Bceing Construction Menager containing the following <br /> data: <br /> 1. The identity oi each rail in e charge by heal number, bloom number and letter denoting <br /> position in the bloom. High Strength rail should be identified either by metal plates <br /> permanently altached lo the neutral axis of rails or by hol stamped the brandlbroom number <br /> that gives the manufaclurer melhod ot heed hardening. <br /> 2. The product test resulls of the lest samples of the finished material (rail) representing the <br /> heat The test samples represenling the heat should include lhe lest results of the chemical <br /> composition test, surface test, internal hardness test, tensile propertiea tes�which include <br /> yield strength, lensile strength, and elongalion lesting resufls. <br /> 3.
