ro City Council
 P.Vt?f2tt
FROM MariQn Payne, Housing Inspector
ore August 29, 1986
sueecr pemolition Resolution for 2224 Cleveland
CIiV OF EVERETT,EVERETT WASMINGTON •
w
• On August 20, 1986, during the Everett City Comcil meeting, Coimcil tabled
any action on the resolution for demolition on 2224 Cleveland for two weeks.
During that two week perial, I was to work with Mrs. Nelson, owner of the
structure, in an sttempt to determine an alternative to demolition of the
structure.
I had checked with our C}iIP OEfice several months ago and was advised that
'• Mrs. Nelson hod to occupy the structure in order for it to qualify for the
QIIP program.
o ;
' I talked with Nrs. Nelson the day after the Coimcil meeting and asked her if
; she wouldn't reconsider selling the property. At that time, she rrould nct
thirilc of it.
< After the newspaper article appeared concernirg Mrs. Telson's old house and
the action the City planned to take, I received several phone calls from
people interested in purchasing the house. I directed each caller to Mrs.
Netson.
On Friday, August 29th, I called Mrs. Nelson and asked her if she had come to
a conclusion on what she planned to do about the house. She said she was
.r going to sell it. A couple of people called har and were interested in
rshabilitating the house and their offers sounded goud to her.
I have nothing in writing from Mrs. Nelson at this time and she doesn't want
to deal with the City eny longer in this matter.
I respectfully recomnend that Coimcil adopt the resolution for demolotion and
holding the resolution in obeisance for six weeks. If there is no sincere
action on the part of the owner to resolve the problem with this house within
the six week, I shall proceed to carry out the requirements oE the resolution.
h1P/jcl
0718B
