/1P-a- <br /> E77 <br /> RESOLUTION No. 561 3 <br /> RESOLUTION in Support of Forgotten Creek Enhancement Project <br /> WHEREAS, the residents of the Port Gardner Neighborhood have lovingly adopted the <br /> ravine known as Forgotten Creek, and more than 200 volunteers have had numerous work <br /> parties to remove litter and invasive weeds from the ravine; and <br /> WHEREAS,the City of Everett's Office of Neighborhoods has awarded more than$12,000 in <br /> matching funds to the Port Gardner Neighborhood for a professionally guided public-design and <br /> development plan and geo-technical survey for the Forgotten Creek Enhancement Project; and <br /> WHEREAS, the public design process has resulted in a plan for a walking trail and historical <br /> and educational interpretive signs for the Forgotten Creek ravine, and the City of Everett's Public <br /> Works staff has participated in the development of a plan compatible with utilities usage on the <br /> Forgotten Creek site; and <br /> WHEREAS, several businesses,professionals and Port Gardner Neighborhood residents have <br /> generously donated their time and skills, valued at more than $20,000 in matching dollars, <br /> demonstrating community investment in public open spaces such as Forgotten Creek; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Starbucks Corporation invests in communities and supports public open spaces <br /> such as Forgotten Creek; and <br /> WHEREAS, there exists in the community a need for additional financial support for <br /> development of this unique natural resource, and the residents of Port Gardner have applied for <br /> and are finalists for Starbucks Corporation funding support; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE EVERETT CITY COUNCIL that the <br /> City of Everett wishes to encourage community involvement and public-private partnerships in <br /> the restoration and enhancement of Everett's natural areas for future community use. <br /> Passed and approved this 27th day of April 2005. <br /> -717 <br /> 2.4.-.6.4--; .c:rze.,,C <br /> Councilperson Introducing Resolution <br /> "t1/1.-,60-... /Tzae <br /> Council President <br /> i <br /> ( / 401 / <br /> / 1 <br /> Mayor ' .
