The Code also requirea that the vented roof area be sub-
divided into areas not larger than 50,000 equare feet using curtain
boarde not iesa than 6 feet in depth nnd spaced not more than 250 feet
on center.
Aseuming that the 6-foot minim depth required by the Code occurs at
the eve line, and with a roof'elole of 1 inch in 24 inchea. the curtein
at the ridge line vill be over 12 feet in depth. Thia eituatien will
result in either a eevere restriction upon utilization of building epace,
particularly with respect to overhead materlal handling equipment, or
the curtain Loarde would require numerous large openings for paesage of
material handling equipment.
We propose that the buildinge rigid frames be utilized as curtain boards.
A closure would be provided above the rig3d framea between the roof pur-
lins to close that epace. The result wauld be curtain boards of appzoxi-
mately 5-foot minimum depth. In eome areas, the curtain depth would 'ue
greater, depending upon the depth of the rigid frame. With xigid fremes
occurring at 25-foot cen[ers, the eubdivided areas will be approximately
7,500 aqare feet.
pLAMJING/ARCHITECIURE/ENG WEERQJG
tiROADCAST HOUSE, 7HIRD & BROAD !
