i
APPENDIX B
LABORATORY TEST RESULTS
The physical characteristics of the soil were evaluated by a aeries of laboratory tests on the
samples obtained from the explorations conducted on the site.
The moisture content and density of the soils were measured and results of these tab appear
adjacent to the appropriate simple notations on the boring logs.
Two consolidation tests were conducted on organic soil ampler. The taw were to evaluate
the compressibility of the soils under anticipated future loads. The tests were performed at the
sample's natural moisture content. Pop 2-2 describes the test procedures and Plates B-1 and B-2
present the test results. Note that the curve shown on Plate B-1 may be distorted slightly due to
the drying of the ample during the test.
Moos content (fraction passing the No. 200 slew) determinations and a grain alas malysls
were conducted on selected samples to aid in soil classification. The gradation distribution
obtained from the grain size analysis is presented on Plats 8-3. The results of the fins content
analyses are tabulated on Plate B-4.
Organic contents were conduced on selected samples to assist in the evaluation of
decomposition potential of the soils. The tests were conducted in acoordance with ASTM.
Resistivity and pH level of some selected amplas were also con. fueled to evaluated the corrosion
potential of the subsoils. The tests were conducted using procedures described in AS7M 0-57.
r Results of the organic content, resistivity and pH level determinations are tabulated on Maio B-S.
I 8-005-00695-016\86000700.op
006"-509.016 B-I
