_ ___..__.,_
MEMORANDUM
T0: Kirk Brooks
FROM: Jane Zimmerman
DATE: December 31, 1991
SUBJECT: Boeing Plan Review, Japanese Gulch
Detention Pond
The following are my review comments on the Japanese Gulch I
detention nond plans:
General Comments
Japanese Creek is shown to the west of the detention pond
area. Due to the location of this environmentally sensitive
area, the proposed location of the pond must be approved by
the Planning Department.
Per the Boeing EIS, any work within 50 feet of an
environmentally sensitive area will require a construction
management plan.
Wetoond
A planting schedule for the treatment cell of the wetpond
must be submitted and approved by Public Works. The plan
should cal out the type of vegetation to be plr.nted, the
density oi the plantings, and the total number of plants
needed. Plants suited to the depth of water in the
treatment cell should be used, such as hardstem bulrush
and/or cattails. The density of the plantings should be one
every 2 square feet (approximately) .
The wetland treatment cell area should be over-excavated by
one fot and back-filled with organic soil or topsoil to
help ensure the viability of the wetland vegetation. A note
should be added to sheet C517 directing the contractor to
perform the above actions.
