Our services were provkled over the period rrom July 1991 to July 1992. <br /> The scope ot our services was Identified In the Dames 8 Moore proposal of June 12, 1991. The <br /> monitoring services were Ilmited to those aci(vitles takfng place within the building (ootprint only. <br /> Geotechnical recommendatlons for the expanslon were presented primarily In the Dames&Moore <br /> report of Aprfl 15, 1991 and an addendum report dated May 16, 199i. <br /> DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES <br /> CAISSON INSTALLATION <br /> A total of 53 caissons (drilled piers) were Installed by Franki Company In the building area from <br /> Cdumn Lines 5 to 6.1 (see Plate 1). An additional 4 caissons were installed at the Accumulator Pad <br /> Iocation�ust southwest of Column CC•5. Our representative was present during the drUling of each <br /> caisson to measure and Inspect the shaft and bell. A record of eacti ca�sson installation was <br /> maln[alned whlch Includcd data regarding driiling tlme, casting tlme, soll and groundwater <br /> conditions encountered during drilling and the presence of gases within the calsson. The design <br /> , and as-built dimensions we•e also measured. Table 1 presents e summary of the caisson data. <br /> All calssons were drilled at locations set by surveyors from Wright Schuchart Harbor Company, <br /> . the genoral contractor. Th�3 caissons were embedded at least 5 foet into the natural glacial till <br /> and/or glaclal oulwash sand and gravel. Inspeclfon of steel and concrete was provfded by PSI,Ine. <br />
