The following int'ormation is provided regarding the signage sketch
you suhmitted and discussed on the telephone xith Pearl Maddy of my staff (see
attached sketch) consisting of:
1. A 6' x 8' pole sign in front of the bookstore on
23rd Street (48 square feet)
2. A 6 foot by 5 or 6 foot sign (36 sq. ft.)
pro,7ecting over public right-of-xay on Colby to be
mounted belox the existing 6 foot by foot (42 sq.
ft.) grocery store sign
This signage would be in excess of xhat xauld be permitted in a H-1,
Neighborhood Business zone which would allow one square foot of signage :or
each lineal front foot of each individual business up to a maxim of one
30-square foot sign for each business. Since your use is a nonconforming
business use in a residential zone, but basically funetions as a neighborhood
business the maximum signing that could be administratively approved Nould be
that whicn is permitted in a H-7 zone (see E.M.C. 19.24.020F enclosed).
In addition, the pole sign you are proposing on 23rd Street in front of the
bookstore would not be permitted for tha above mentioned reason and also
because your building is built to the property line and pole signs are not
permitted on public right-of-xay.
