EVERETT CITY COUNCIL AGENDA ITEM COVER SHEET 4
PROJECT TITLE:
Consent COUNCIL BILL if
A resolution exempting Senior Center X Action Originating Department Engineering
permitted vehicles from established First Reading Contact Person Dave Davi
time limits on Wall Street between Second Reading Phone Number (425)257-8 13
Broadway and Lombard Avenue. Third Reading FOR AGENDA OF
Public Hearing
Initialed by:
Department Head 1);a7
CAA
Council President
Location Preceding Action Attachments Department(s) Approval
Wall Street- TAC Recommendation Resolution Senior Center, Engineering
Broadway to Lombard December 17, 2003
Council approval of this agenda item authorizes a budget revision in the additional amount requested.
Expenditure Required $-O- Account Number(s):
Amount Budgeted $-O-
Additional Required $-O-
DETAILED SUMMARY STATEMENT:
Parking near the Senior Center has been a challenge for some time and as a result the street frontage on Lombard and
on Wall is reserved for seniors. In March of 1997, the reserved area was expanded to include the west side
of Lombard. Early in 2003, construction on the county jail eliminated the spaces on the west side of
Lombard. The removal of the county garage, the opening of the Events Center and construction of the new
county garage all increased pressures on parking near the Senior Center. This resolution would provide
needed relief without entirely removing the Wall Street parking spaces from the downtown inventory.
Senior Center permitted vehicles would not have exclusive use of the parking. With a valid permit they
could exceed the posted time limits (90 min.), which other vehicles parking in the area must abide. This
parking privilege would cease on January 31, 2005, as the Snohomish County Jail construction is winding
down.
RECOMMENDATION (Exact action requested of Council):
Adopt the Resolution exempting Senior Center permitted vehicles from established time limits on Wall Street
between Broadway and Lombard Avenue and setting January 31, 2005 as the termination date for the
exemption.
9
