Expenditure Required $ -0- Account Number(s): Amount Budgeted $ -0- Additional Required $ -0- DETAILED SUMMARY STATEMENT: For many years, City employees donated money through payroll deductions to a small number of charitable organizations. Only a few charitable organizations and federations of charitable organizations have been interested in soliciting donations from employees. More have expressed an interest, and the City should establish a formal mechanism for the employees to conduct an annual charitable giving campaign. The proposed ordinance is modeled after similar ordinances in Snohomish County and the City of Seattle. It establishes a committee of representative volunteers from City departments who will oversee the annual charitable giving campaign. The ordinance will allow greater participation by employees in the organization and management of their charitable giving campaigns.
