January 5.200i <br /> <501 Co�by Avenue,Everett,WA Job No 07-0026 <br /> Generel Site Practices <br /> With respect to general site practices, which will help to maintain or increase the Ieveis <br /> of stability on subject slope, we make the tollowing recommendations: <br /> � It is critical that proper drainage be maintained in order to sustain cuRent <br /> levels ot stability within the subject lot. Regular maintenance of the storm <br /> water collection system should be performed at least two times a year, as <br /> well as after any large storm event or sign of slope movement. As discussed <br /> above, no collected drainage water nor incident surface water should be <br /> allowed to discharge directly onto the slope, but should be tied into a suitably <br /> designed drainage structure. To reduce the possibility of initiating, renewing <br /> or increasing instability in the slope, in no case should water be aliowed to <br /> flow over the steep slope. <br /> • Establishing and maintaining the healthy vegetation cover on the slope will <br /> best control long term erosion. We recommend maintaining the sxisting <br /> vegetation, andlor the introduction of additional native plant species to <br /> provide long-term erosion protection and to increase slope stability. A <br /> landscape architect or other qualified individual should be consulted in order ; <br /> to provide types and sources for suitable native plant species, which will help <br /> in soil stabilization on the slope while remaining low to the ground to preserve <br /> current and future view opportunities. <br /> • Yard waste or other deleterious material should not be placed on or over the <br /> slopes. Such material smothers vegetation, retains water, and acts to <br /> destabilize the slope. <br /> • The slope should be regularly evaluated for signs of instability. Any evidence <br /> of slope movement, or change in drainage or vegetation patterns, should be <br /> promptly addressed. Some downslope movement of surficial soiis should be <br /> considered a normal part oi the weathering process for the slope, and this <br /> behavior shouid be expected to continue. <br /> Limitations <br /> Our conclusions are based on visual observations during site visits on January 19 and <br /> 22, 2007, review of avaiiable geologic infor,Talion, and our experience in the area. Our <br /> study area included the subject slope at 4501 Coiby Avenue, as referenced in this <br /> report, only. Our services have Geen pericrmed in a manner consistent with that ievel of <br /> professional care and skill exercised by other members of the professional community <br /> practicing under similar conditions in the area. No warranty, expressed or implied, is <br /> made. <br /> Within the limitations of scope, schedule and budget, our services have been executed <br /> in accordance with generaliy accepted site evaluation practices in this area at the time <br /> the report was prepared.
