ENG/NEER/NG / PUBLIC SERV/CES DEPARTMENT
January 9, 2006
]on Poytress
4516 Colby Avenue
Everelt, WA 98302
Address: 4516 Colby
Inspection: W0601-001
Dear Mr. Puytress:
The purpose of the inspections at 4516 Colby were to establish the procedure to
Iegitimize an additional dwelling unit in the previously unfinished basement
within a single-family dwlling. The additional dwelling unit was created
approximately three years ago without benefit of prmits. During the inspections
of January 4°i, 2006, several electrical, mecharicai, plumbing and building code
violations were observed.
To convert the basement into additional living space, tlie following permits will
be required: Building, Plumbing, Mechanical and Electrical (note that all except
the electrical permit may be joined together in a combination permit). To apply
for a combination permit, the permit application as well as all documentation
outlined in our residential check list (see enclosed) should be submitted to this
office.
The inspection phase will begin at the rough-in stage. In order to perfiorm the
required rough-in inspections, all electrical viring and plumbing must be exposed
and available to inspect. This may be accomplished either by removing portions
of sheet rock, or providing access behind walls, etc. In most cases, it should not
be necessary to remove sheet rock from both sides of an interior wall if we can
make a proper inspection from the exposed side.
If you have any further questions, please contact me at (425) 257-8812.
Sincerely,
'
T R. Lee
Permit Services Manager
CITY OF EVERE'TT• 3200 Cedar Street • Everett, WA 98201 • (425) 257-8800 • Fax (425)257-8856
