The replacement of these mains will provide increased reliability <br /> of the system. <br /> The estimated useful life for asbestos cement water mains is 50 years. The water mains within the project <br /> limits are all reaching the end of this estimated useful life. This is confirmed by the increased number of <br /> leaks and breaks that have occurred in the past couple of years. <br /> The Professional Services Agreement for the design of this project was approved in October 2003.
