Recommended projects include the relocation of Portal 3. The existing Portal 3 was constructed in 1930 and no longer serves its purpose (pipeline inlet for reservoir water), and does not meet current seismic construction codes. The original contract (Professional Services Agreement) for$218,000 provided for engineering study, design, and construction support services. This amendment would be for$39,500, and provide for a detailed seismic analysis of the Portal 3 structure. When bids for the construction of the project were received last year they were found to be significantly in excess of the capital budget for this project. The Department wishes to perform this additional work to aid in developing a more economical solution to the upgrade of Portal 3. RECOMMENDATION (Exact action requested of Council): Authorize Mayor to sign Amendment No. 1 for$39,500.00 to the Professional Services Agreement with URS Corporation for engineering services for the Portal 3 Relocation project at the Water Filter Plant. 26
