The Everett Police Department is now seeking to become fully <br /> accredited on the national level by participating in the C.A.L.E.A. accreditation process. C.A.L.E.A.,the <br /> Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, was founded by the International Association <br /> of Chiefs of Police, the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives, the National Sheriff's <br /> Association, and the Police Executive Research Forum to improve the delivery of law enforcement services <br /> through a law enforcement accreditation program organized and maintained in the public interest. The <br /> accreditation process measures the agencies adherence to some 446 professional standards. <br /> RECOMMENDATION(Exact action requested of Council): <br /> We ask the Council to authorize the Mayor to sign the Accreditation/Recognition Program for Law <br /> Enforcement Accreditation/Recognition Agreement between C.A.L.E.A. and the City of Everett. <br /> 9 <br />
