EVERETT CITY COUNCIL AGENDA ITEM COVER SHEET -& .431(041,
,
PROJECT TITLE:
Consent COUNCIL BILL#
Agreement with Everett Action Originating Department Utilities
Travelodge for Water First Reading Contact Person Debbie Faust t
Conservation Audit and Second Reading Phone Number X7209
Rebate. Third Reading FOR AGENDA OF 5/18/05
Public Hearing
Initialed by:
Department Head Tom et ord
CAA l!
Council President
Location Preceding Action Attachments Department(s) Approval
Amount Budgeted $119,410
Expenditure Required $6,600 Account Number(s): Utilities 401
Budget Remaining $112,810
Additional Required $0
DETAILED SUMMARY STATEMENT:
The City of Everett has a water conservation plan that is an element of its Comprehensive Water Plan. This
water conservation plan is implemented throughout the City's water service area. Water conservation audits
and rebates are one program in this plan. The City of Everett, where applicable, will reimburse businesses
for half the cost of certain water saving retrofits and equipment. These reimbursements are budgeted in the
regional water conservation budget.
The City of Everett has received a rebate application from the Everett Travelodge for reimbursement of the
replacement cost of 120 toilets with new low-flow toilets. The $6,600 expenditure listed above is 50%of the
cost of replacement of 120 toilets. The estimated water savings that will occur by replacing these toilets is
1,643 CCF(hundred cubic feet)of water per year. Based on the savings and the avoided cost criteria in the
Comprehensive Water Plan, these measures would be cost effective for the City.
RECOMMENDATION (Exact action requested of Council):
Authorize the Mayor to sign the Agreement between the City of Everett and the Everett Travelodge for Water
Conservation Audit.
24
