(Cathedral ceiling exception.) <br />Attic Ventilation <br />Per the UBC, Section 3205(c): The net free area of ventilation may be 1/300 <br />of the area to be vented if at least 50� of the required vent area is located <br />in the upper portion of the vent space. and at least 3 feet above the eaves. <br />Attic ventilation is to be increased in the west-facing gable end of Cutting <br />Room 1 and in the south-facing gable end of Cutting Room 2, as follows: <br />Area of Cutting Rooms 1& 2= 21'x 51' = 1,071 sq ft <br />1071 sq ft x 1/300 = 3.57 net eq ft of vent area <br />3.57 net sq ft / 2 vents (one vent in each gable) = 1.75 net sq ft per vent <br />Use AWSCO #7100 curve top 2'-8�� x 7'-6�� high = 1.75 net sq ft in each gable. <br />Attic ventilation is to be increased in the west-facing gable if the Reception <br />Room and in the east-facing gable end over the back door from the Laundry Room, <br />as follows: <br />Reception = 14' x 29' + Shampoo/Bath = 12' x 21' + Office/Laundry = 10� x 19� _ <br />a total of 848 sq ft <br />848 sq ft x 1/300 = 2.g2 net aq ft of vent area <br />2•8z / Z gable ends = 1.4 sq ft per gable end <br />Use AtJSCO #1100 curve top, 2'-6�� x 1'-6�'h = 1.75 sq ft of net area in the <br />gable end above the back door from the Laundry Room, and in the gable end <br />above the Reception Room facing west. <br />
