FcisGng rooftop units weigh approximately 600 pounds each, and each is supported by two
trusses. This amounts to approximately 3 pounds per square foo
2, Based on approximations using existing dimensions and lumber observed in buitding, ihe
existing trusses are designed for approximately the current dEsign snow and dead loads.
3. New rooftop units wil atso weigh approximately 600 pounds, and should Ge installed tn a manner
that does not exceed a net 3 psf load on the supporting trusses.
We re,commend placing each unit on a 4x10x15' spreader beam. This beam should be in tum supported
by at least seven of the existing roof trusses. Non9 of the exisBng Uusses should be supporting more
than one unit, f.e., two spreadar beams. The center of gmvity of the rooftop unit should be Ixated within
stx ir.ches of the middle ot the beams, and within six fnche.. f the m(d-point behveen the beams.
Sprders may be toe-naiied to each iruss to fasten in place. Curbs nortnally used for the rooftoP uads
may be placed directiy on tfie sprEader beams. Please see attaohed detaD 4/S2 for clarification.
Should you have any questions or desire addiGonal informaUon, plesse do not hesitate to contact us. We
trust this fulfilis your request for engineerin9 for support of the new units, and in that regard, it Is
Respectfully Submttted,
 G
Clayton M.
