It is the users sole responsibility to know and comply withal] applicable federal, state or focal regulations <br />concerning the use of steel plates on or around roadways, and to use plates in accordance with ;sty <br />available Manufacturer's Tabulated Data. <br />In the absence of such regulations or tab data, conform to the recommendations ocntained in the <br />latest edition of the `Standard Specification for Highway Bridges" by the American Association of <br />State Highway Traffic Officials (AASHTO). <br />It is the users responsitility to ccnsiddr all pertinent factors (excavation size, traffic loads, vehicular <br />speeds, etc.) when specifying and placing steel plate over trenches. <br />/L WARNING A <br />® Use only pre-engineered, certified lifting devices which attach securely to plates. <br />All plates, we!ds, and all lifting devices (slings. cables, hocks, shackles, etc.) must <br />be Coniinuousiv inspected for cracks or damace. Do not use If damage is evident. <br />T ne condition, ca.oaGiJ and use Cr any liftirg and;cr -ulllrg device Is the sole <br />responsibility of the customer and customer's agents ardior emplaras. <br />`j Always use tag lines to control twisting andior s,vinging of steel plates when lifting <br />�i and moving. Do not put hands and ringers be!CW or bec.veen plates ,ovhen stacking <br />or placi: ,g plates, to avoid serious injury or loss of fingers. <br />Always use proper personal -protection equipment (such as safety shoes, eye <br />protection, hard-hat, hearing protection, and gloves, etc.) <br />No one shall be permitted under a Plate while it is being lifted or moved. <br />Steel crossing plates must be secured from displacement and lateral movement <br />M7en brdging an excavation. State and/or !ocal regulations typically require use of <br />one or more o'the following methods: planing pavement to depth of plate, use of a <br />proper bonding agent (such as asphalt -based cold mix), or staking or cleating to <br />the road surace. State and/or local regulations may also require that plate edges <br />be 'ramped -up" or "feathered" from the road surface. St -ate and; er local regulations <br />may also require apP!Icaticn of a :ermanert skid -resistant surface treatment on <br />Plates to increase traction for crossing vehicles.
