The lOd nails
were to be set with a Paslode Pnrsumatic Hand 6un set at 115 psi
.pressure. Trial nailinq revealed that tho head of the nail could
not be driven flush to the outer layer of pl:wood as specified on
our drawinq No. 1, preparad by the Reese Associates. This was due
to the build up of roofinq which compressed under the nail head to
approximately 1/16" as shown in the sketch below.
RooFlNG IDc
--- - =-
GYWooD I . /ic APP('OX.
It was decided to permit the nailinq to proceed based on the
folloNing: '
a)
b)
Further Driving of the nail head would almost certainly
damage'the outer layer of plywood sheathing which would
significantly reduce its lateral design capability and,
The additional nailing is only for additional horizontal
strength and s'_nce the lOd penetration into the uood
holding tho ns.il point was more than required, full
lateral capability was probably being obtained.
6628 212TH S.1'l. • LYNNWOOD, WASHINOTON 8803u •(206) 771-b666
FqCSIMILE (206)771b550
