higher flows diverted around the swale. The swale should be
designed per the following criteria for the 2 year, 24-hour
storm:
"n" = 0.12
max velocity = 1.5 feet per second
max. depth = 0.5 feet
The entire contributing area must be used in calculating the
cross-sectional area of the swale. Only the site's paved
area must be used in determining the required length of
swale.
The following information regarding the vegetated swale must
be submitted for review and approval:
1) design flow calculation
i) velocity and flow depth calculations
3) bypass sizing calculations
4) copy of site plan showing the contributing area
5) calculation of the length of swale required
PLAN REVIEW COMMENTS
Veqetated swales:
The swale construction notes and swale planting/seeding
✓ requirements must be shown on both the landscaping plan and
the storm drainage plan.
The berm between the pond and the swale should be widened to
L 5 feet and graveled, so that it can serve as an access path
to the swale for maintenance. *
8urface Pond•
All ponds with a maximum depth greater than three feet-ara_
requ.ired to be fenced with a=six_foot high-perimeter-fence
unless one of the following conditions is met:
1) a 10 faot wide safety bench for every three feet of
design water depth and the side slopes of the pond are no
greater than 3:1 (H:V); or
2) the maximum water depth of the facility does not exceed
three feet during a two year storm, nor exceed three feet
for more than four hours for a 25 year storm; the side
slopes are a maximum of 3:1 (H:V); and the facility is a
dual use facility; or
