lT � <br /> cmr oF��Tr <br /> NOTICE OF PLANNING DIRECTOR DECISION � <br /> REVIEVII PROCESS II 511-96 <br /> The City of Everett Planniny Director denies Meyer Sign Company's request to place a <br /> 24 square foot freestanding sign at ten feet high and a 150 square foot freestanding <br /> sipn at 35 feet hiyh for Pertormance Jeep Eagle at 10500 Highway 99 South. <br /> However, the Planninp Director approves the eight foot brand sign size as listed in the <br /> Chrysler Dealership Iden6fication Program. The eight foot brand sign is 97.87 square <br /> feet in area and 30 foet hiqh. The ten foot brand sign size (150 square foot) sign may <br /> be u�ec1 if the height is I�mitad to 30 teet and there are no othe�freestanding signs on <br /> the properly over six square fset in area. <br /> The above decision was based upon the following: <br /> The Comprehensive Desi9n Plan, Section 38.21Q A of the Everett Zoning Code, allows <br /> the Planniny Director to pertnit certain deviations from ths requirements and restrictions <br /> of the sign code if the applicant has a comprehensive plan to integrate signs into the <br /> framework of the building(s), landscaping, and other design features of the propeRy, <br /> utiliziny an overall design theme. The applicanYs proposal is evaluated using the <br /> following criteria: <br /> �) Whather the proposal manifests excepGonal visual hertno�rou h the use ona <br /> buildings and other components of the subjoct prop rty 9 <br /> consistent design theme; <br /> The applicant proposes to replace the existing 44 foot high Nissan sign with a <br /> 35 foot high, 150 square foot freestanding sign and a ten foot high, 24 square <br /> foot freestanding sign. Thase signs are in confortnance with the Chrysler <br /> Dealership Identification Program. This program is designed to give Chrysler a <br /> sVong, sharply defined brand idenGty. <br /> 2} Whether the sign or signs promote the planned land use in the area of the <br /> subject property and enhance the aestheGcs of the surrounding area; <br /> The signs will not necessarily enhance the aesthetics of the surrounding area. <br /> However, replacing ihe larger existing Nissan signs with smaller and fewer signs <br /> will enhance the area. <br /> 3� Whether the sign and its placement obstructs or interferes with any other signs <br /> or property in the area or obstructs natural scenic views; <br /> The proposed 150 square foot sign will be located near the center of the <br /> property and shouid not in!e�fere with other signs or scenic views. <br /> q) Whether the proposed plan is aesthetically superior to what could be installed <br /> under existing criteria in the sign code; <br />
