Within the overall Special <br />District, the purpose of the Theater Sub -District is to protect the cultural and theatrical <br />and ancillary uses (i.e., shops and restaurants) In Times. Square. We <br />provide a detailed picture of this diversity below. <br />42nd Street Study Block Land Uses <br />The present land uses along 42nd Street reflect the general commercial nature <br />of the block. The north side of 42nd Street between Seventh and Eighth Avenues has <br />a significant number of now vacant theaters, awaiting redevelopment through the <br />42nd Street Development Project.
