When a customer brings used motor oil to the store <br /> DIY customers may bring in up to 5 gallons of used fluid per visit. If a customer <br /> has slightly more than 5 gallons, accept the fluid, but register the quantity in <br /> the Used Oil Log in your computer. <br /> • Fluid is defined as motor oil transmission fluid and aear oil. <br /> 2. Ask the customer if he or she added anything to the fluid. Explain you <br /> can't accept fluid that contains: <br /> carburetor cleaner bleach antifreeze <br /> gasoline/kerosine paint or varish solvent or thinner <br /> 3. Examine the fluid. <br /> If you can see into the container, look for water, paint chips, fluid that isn't <br /> black or dark brown or fluid thaYs separated into more than one layer. If the <br /> fluid is contaminated, return the container to the customer, and politely explain <br /> that the fluid can't be recycled because iYs contaminated. Direct them to <br /> contact their local Fire Dept. or Public Works Dept. for disposal information. <br /> If you cannot see into the container, smell the fluid for evidence of <br /> contamination before pouring it into the tank. If you smell a contaminant, place <br /> the cap on the container, and return �c to the customer. Politely explain the <br /> fluid can't be recycled because iYs contaminated. Direct them to contact their <br /> local Fire Dept. or Public Works Dept. for disposal information. <br /> 4. Enter the information on WITT-JR. <br /> .
