K
Kegel & Associates Inc.
December 21, 1979
Mr. Dan Mathias
City of Everett Engineering Department
City Service Center
3200 Ceder Street
Everett, Washington 98201
Re; Chauncey Wiht Drainage Plan
Our Job No. 7881
Dear Dan:
At your request and pursuant to our phone conversation this morning, I
have completed soils work in tlie recharge trench area.
Please examine the enclosed map locating the two soil logs dug along with
four photo's illustrating the bank to the east of the Temporary Erosion
Siltation Control Pond (TESCP).
The soil encountered was a red brown yravelly sandy loam type fill material
to over 34 inches. Below this lies a black brown gravelly sandy loam to over
56 inches. Soil Log No. 1 was only 30 inches deep before a competely saturated
soil was located. No percolation tests were performed because uf the saturated
nature of the soil.
I do not see this high water table as a pro'blem because, as photo four illustrates,
the pond six feet to the west is full, therefore causing this high groundwater
to appear. The high water level in the soil iridicates that the soil is, in
fact, permeable and permits groundwater to percolate.
The photos are intended to show the embankment to the east of the proposed
recharge trench is a topsoil type loam fill area to over five feet deep. It
is my opinion that the proposed trench is in an area where the sandy loam
topsoil from the site clearing was pushed to create a fill. This clearing
was done in a dry time of year which creates an acceptable soil fill for
placement of a recharge gravelled trench.
Please contact if you have any questions.
Respectfully submit ed,
.
R.
