Budden Chief Ins�ector City of Everett Building Department City Hall Everett, Washington 98201 Re: Chauncey Wight Nursery Foundation Soils Our Job No. 7881 Dear Sir: /7��G, �� I ar� writing this letter to report the preparation and testing of the foundation soils that have been completed to date on Chauncey Wight's nursery building. A report was obtained in Qecember 1979 from Cascade Testing Laboratories illusirating low compaction (76% - 86%) in the first two feet of depth of the existing fill material. It was then determined correction must be made to create an acceptable foundation soil. This office then completed the enclosed sketch to aid the builder in preparing an adequate bearing soil for .`oundation placement. On December 31, 1979, the work was completed which consisted of importing and compacting a granular gravelly sand, as per the sketch. Additional tests were then performed o�i January 2, 1980 in the imported in place fill in four locations directly under the proposed foundation. These tests were again performed by Cascade Testing Lab and the average q relative coinpaction was recorded at 92 with values varyin9 between 90 and 95. You should be receiving a copy of the results soon. We believe that with proper foundation design and construction, these values should be adequate to support a one story, wood structure with a 24 inch spread footing. The foundation is scheduled to be poured Tuesday or Wednesday (January 8th or 9th) if no objection is registered by the building department. Respectfully ubmitted �.��' �� R.
