PUBL/C f/O/i
ENGINEERING / PUBLIC SERVICES DEPARTMENT
March 27, 2003
Mr. Bill Miller
20408 W. Snoqualmie Valley Rd. NE
Duval, WA 98019
RE: Owner: I.ee
Job Address: 9629 Evergreen Way
Plan Check No: B0303-025
Dear Mr. Miller:
In response to your application fnr a construction permit, yor plans have been examined and you are
advised that the issuance of a permit is being withheld for the reasons listed below. These comments
addrss bui:ding issues only. Additional revisions, or additions, may be required by other
depar[ments (such as Utilities, Planning or Fire). All references refer to the 1997 Uniform Building
Code, as amended by [he State of Nashinton and/or Washinton State Energy Code, 2001 Edition,
unless stated otherwise.
In order for the processing of your application to continue, it will be necessary to provide the
Building Division with two complete new sets of drawings reflecting the corrections requested.
- 1. Separate toilet facilities are reyuired for each sex. UBC 29023, State Amendments. Each
restroom is required [o meet all accessibility requirements. UBC 1105.2.2, State
P.mendmen[s.
2. The plans include information necessary ro obtain a permit for a Type 1 hood. This permit
must be applied for separately.
3. The proposed Type 1 hood (Item 2) is 14 feet long. UMC SOS.9 limits the lngth of section
serviced by one exhaust outlet to 12 feet unless the hood is listed and installed in accordance
with the terms of the listing and the manufacturer's installation instructions.
, 4. A one-hour ., ;esistive occupancy separation is required between the parking garage and
the restaurant above. L1I3C 302.1.1. Exposure of the bottom flanges of the steel framing
appears to prevent the existing ceiling/floor assembly from supplying a one-hour rating.
 5. The "Door To Remain Unlocked During Business Hours" sin is allowed a[ the main exit
only. The door must then be free to swing without operation of any latching device. Panic
hardware is required at the other exit. These requirements along with the remainder of those
of UBC 1007.2.5 should be indicated on the plans. If to remair., the existin tire escape
should be maintained and functional but not advertised as an exit.
L
D[pLPLCCI:\ISTAPIILL[Rt60i01-0'_5196I9 EVGRGR[FV WAY)
CITY OF EVERETT• 3200 Cedar Street • EverE:t.
