<br />This letter is in response to your Octover 17, 1978, letter requesting a
<br />postpone�ent of installation of Standard LVergreen t9ay Street Improvements
<br />ai: the Western Sizzlin' Steak House development.
<br />, The Evergreen I•;ay Design c:as adopted by City Coancil after a three (3) year
<br />comprehensive study, A majbr issue addressed by the study c•ras the increase in
<br />vehicular turning novements and pedestrian traific orhich have increased
<br />the }uzards on Evergreen I1ay. Afuch o£ this increase is attributable to
<br />the escalating development along Evergreen S•Iay. ,
<br />A mechanism available to the City to provide the facil_ties necessary for safe
<br />znd efficient traffic iloia is to require that each new traffic generatc,r install
<br />a portion of th= improvesnent.
<br />After reviewing your r.eauest from a Public S4orks point of view, discussing
<br />the issues with the Evergreen Y;ay Project Coordznator� and the City Conncil
<br />President, it has detezmined that the specific concerns addressed are not
<br />rnique to your development and, in fact, c,ere an.anticipated drao�back of
<br />.. the approach chosen a£ter lengthy considera�ion an3 revieca by._Council.
<br />It is the�City's responsibility to i*unediately provide the safest znd nost
