STREETS AND RELATED WORK <br />C. The opening is at least 160 feet rrom any other driveway on the property frontage under control of <br />the applicant. <br />D. A minimum 100 feet storage area is provided between the curb line on the street and any tuming <br />or parldng maneuvers within the development. <br />3-19.3(� ERCAVATION AND SUBGRADE <br />Where directed by the engineer, unsuitable materialin the subgrade shall be removed to a specific depth <br />and bacl�'illed with select material such as Gravel Borrow conforming to Sec6on 3-20.2 of these <br />Specificadons. <br />Before any concrete is placed, the contracror shall bring the subgrade w the required line, grade and <br />cross-secuon. The contracwr shall maintain the subgrade in the required condidon until the concrete is <br />placed. Compacdon shall be to 9596 standard density. <br />3-19.3(� FORMS AND FINE GRADING <br />Forms for the suaight sections of the driveway or alley retum shall have a minimum thickness of 2 inches <br />and be equal to the nominal depth of the wncrete. Plywood or 1 inch lumber may be used on radii. All <br />forms shall be securely staked and blocked to we line and gnde. <br />A template shall be set upon the forms and the subgrade shall be fine gnded <br />section. The subecade shall then be compacted w the approval of the engineer. <br />concrete, the subgrade shall be thoroughly dampened. <br />3-19.3('n PLACING AND FINISHING <br />w wnform W the requiral <br />Prior to placement of the <br />The concrete shall be spread uniformly between the forms and thoroughly compacted with an approved <br />ty�e of strikeboard. Through joinu and contracdon joints shall be located and constructed in accordance <br />with the Standard Plans. In the construc6on of through joints, the premolded joint filler shall be <br />adequately supported until the concrete is placed on both sides of the joint. <br />Contraction joints (dummy joints) shall be foaned with a tee baz by first cutting a groove in the concrete <br />to a depth equal to, but not greater than the joint filler material and then worldng the premolded joint <br />filler into the groove. Premolded joint filler for both through and dummy joints shall be positioned in <br />true alignment and at right angles to the center line of the driveway or alley return. <br />After the concrete has been thoroughly compacted and leveled, it shall be floated with wood floats and <br />finished at the proper dme with a metal float. Joints shall be edged with 1/4 inch radius edger and the <br />driveway or alley return edges shall be tooled with 1/2 inch radius edger. <br />The surface shall be brushed in a uansverse direction in relation to the center line of the driveway or alley <br />return with a fiber hair brosh of approved rype. <br />3-19.3(8) CLTRING AND PRGTECTION <br />1'he curing materials and procedures specified in Sections 5-05 and 9-23 of the WSDOT/APWA Standard <br />Specifications and Section 3-17.7 of these Specifications shall be used. The driveway and the alley return <br />shall be protected against damage or defacement of any ldnd until acceptance by the Owner. Any <br />driveway or alley retum not acceptable, in the opinion of the engineer because of damage or defacement, <br />shall be removed and be replaced by the contractor. <br />Before placing any concrete, the contractor shall have on the job site enough protecfive paper to cover the <br />pour of an entire day, in event of rain or other unsuitable weather conditions.
