October 21st� 1971, I came to your office and talked to Mr. Callahan <br />regard•.ng a structure whi..:h had been arected at �1y06 Federal Avenue� Evei�ett� <br />4lashi�igtm. This metal ahed had been built on a concrete foundation which xas <br />lass than 30 inches irom my property hne� also just under �y living room <br />irindow. This building was put up without first securing a building permit or <br />requesting a variance because of such close proximity to iqy property line. <br />I diecussed thia xith Mr. Del NL3xfield� the neighbor involved, azu1 he � <br />— was not at all cooperal:ive. I told him that it was much too close u�Soperty <br />lina. I inquired iY he had secux'ed a building pexmit and he informed me a <br />permit was not neaded. I to].d hi.m that I was very upset that such a stru ctura <br />was placed so close to � propertY line az►d also that it sure]y detracted Yrai <br />�- property. He told meit woul��t bother me as it was a low structure and <br />also that he could build within five feet of a� building. I requested that <br />he check into the matter ae I intended to. <br />pn October 19th I calleo 1�r. vatai, in the City Engineer�s Office and <br />aslred 6im to check on the new utructure at 3406 Federal Avarnie. When I xent <br />to the City Fingineer�s office I was told Mr. Del riaxPia].d, my neighbor, would <br />heve to remove the building or raquest a hearing regardiiig a variance. This <br />letter is written to rop test a� Permenance of thia bui.lding for the following <br />good and equitable reasona: <br />(1) It is less than 30 inches Yroia �y property line and placea iqy <br />legal title to � hca�e in jeopar�y. <br />(2) It is imsightly and surely tends to darn-grade ay property value. <br />(3) Building coastructed without required building permit. <br />(4) Apglication for variance to property linas should legall,y be <br />requeated and granted befors a� construction occurs. <br />I raspectflil.�y request notice of ax�p heariag enough in advance oY such <br />h::aring� that I will be able to be in attendance in order to pers�ally o�r test <br />gxanting of a� specisl variance.
