Applicai:ion for Variance Page 1
Sohn & Norma Homann
30 Fern Rmad
Everett
A1. Detailed explanation of the specific variance request,
We wish to have a carport built over the driveway from the
front corner of the house to the garage. The outer support
posts woild be placed about 1 to 2 feet from the property
line. The existing concrete driveway comes
of the property line. If we were to place
from the property line, then we could not
because the posts would be in the Nay. No
will extend over the property line.
We also wish to replace the existine fences
that in two locations would come to wi:hin
structures on the adjoining properties.
to within 3 feet
the posts 5 feet
use the driveway
part of the carport
with a 6 £oot fence
10 feet of existing
The fence would in no way block an, exting view from either
neighbor's house.
The fence would give us privacy and security.
A2. The following are the special circumstances which
apply to the property which deprive me of rights and
pi•ivileges which are enjoyed by other properties in
the vicinity under the identiQal zone classification.
The neighborhood children play in the vacant lot behind our
property and they use the neighbor's unfenced yard to the
east as an access. The existing fence is split rail and
in need of repair.
The new fence would give us privacy and security from the
kids that travel into the vacant lot. The kids cut through
part of our yard if they head towards the west end of Fern Road.
The new fence would help protect our property from vandalism
that might occur, We have had gas stolen and a new car's
paint job vandalized wi.th a wire brush.
I have talked to the neighbors on both sides of our lot
and they have absolutely no objections L'o the fence. The
neighboroon the east side where the carport would be located
thinks that a fence and carport woud be a nice impozvement.
The carport would also help to protect our vehS.cles from the
weather.
Exhibit 4
Narrative Statement

z
0
-

m

.» -i
N S
0
m
co
mo
-i c
03
-i z
x -i
m
..
'c Z
n -+
r x
., ..,

.
T
O v
T
--i m
x
m -.
v

o r
c m
C N
 N
z c
--i r
>
A

x
a
z

x
N
z
0

m
