 I

Narrative Statement
The purpose of requesting this variance is to construct a carport
(roof cover only, sides not enclosed) over the existing driveway
at 4706 Forest Drive, Everett. The lot size at 4706 Forest Drivc
is 40 ft. wide by 60 ft. long, with the house located 20 ft. from
the front property line (i.e. , up to the 20 ft. setback requirement
for the City of Everett) . The driveway is now located on the front ,
20 ft. of the property, therefore, this variance is requesting I
permission to cover the existing driveway with a carport on the
existing 20 ft, setback. I
The purpose of the carport is to provide protection against weather
conditions for a specially equipped wheelchair van valued at $20,000.
This van provides my primary transportation to and from work and i
because of the electronic and hydraulic equipment involved, it is i
important to keep it under cover as much as possible to prevent I
moisture collection and to provide as much protection as possible
against freezing conditions. Also, due to my disability I am unable
to scrape ice or snow from windows or water from mirrors, causing
driving safety considerations, should the van be required to set out.
The carport I am requesting would measure 20 ft. long by 12 ft. wide.
An additiona: consideration in requesting this variance is the I
replacement a,t and maint.:nance costs of this specially equipped
van as compared to a normally operated automobile.
Because properties in the vacinity under the identical zone classifications
have existing carports, I feel this variance request would not be detrimental
to the public welfare or injurious to the propertizs or improvements in the I
vacinity of a zone in which the property is located.
Signed ' li
Date 9 7 '
I
i
I
