July 27, 1994
Project No. G94188A
Sam R. Porter
P.O. Box 972
La Conner, Washington 98257
S,jbject: Beckonwood Home
Brentwood Place and Fowler Ave.
Everett, Washington
Dear Mr. Porter:
ASSOCIATED
EARTH
SCIENCES, INC
AUG -5 1994
CITY 6F..EyERETT
Public Works Dept.
Per your request, Associated Earth Sciences, Inc., completed a visual geotechnical site
assessment at the above subject residential property. The purpose of our assessment was to
address slope stability issues that relate to the construction of a new home along the west and
north side of an existing slope on this property. We understand that the City of Everett
requested that a geotechnical firm review the existing slope and assess its overall stability as it
relates to the construction of the new home.
We completed our site visit with you on July 27, 1994 to evaluate the slope, vegetation and
surrounding development. In order to better understand the proposed project, you provided our
firm with a copy of the site plan and house drawings completed by Erich Raudebaugh, dated
JOy 21, 1994. Based on these provided plans, we understand that the home will be constructed
• pith a daylight basement that faces to the west. The daylight basement will only be under
one-half of the home (west side). The eastern half of the home will be constructed over a crawl
space that is adjacent to the basement. The garage will be along the north side of the home and
at the same elevation as the basement. This type of design will allow the structure to step up
the existing slope and reduce the impacts to the slope during construction.
The subject site is located east of the intersection of Fowler Avenue and Brentwood Place in
Everett, Washington. An approximate one hundred foot long utility easement off from Fowler
Avenue will be used as the driveway access to the irregular shaped lot. The lot is surrounded
by single family homes on all sides.
Topographically, the site is nearly level on its eastern half. From the nearly level area the site
drops downward to the north and west at an approximate 30 degree angle over r, vertical
elevation change of approximately 20 feet.
The vegetative cover consists of several second growth fir trees on the upper elevations of the
site, and salal and grasses along the understory and side slopes.
We did not observe any ground water seepages on the site during our site reconnaissance.
911 - 5th Avenue Suite 100 Kirkland, Washington 98033 (206) 827-7701
—"."t.:.::y:'=;=:: `.—'Ye.mcioii=++.7:?Y7itigf-- •.
FAX (206) 827-5424
