Glenhaen Drie
Lverelt, WasLington
Dear Mr. 7_able:
7'his lettcr presents the results of our slope hazard assessment for the subject site. Our
vork has becn completed in general accordance vith our scope of vork letter, dated
Augusl 19, 2008. This letter has been prepared for the cxclusive use of Ken 7_able and his
agents, ('or specific application to this project. Within the limitations of scopc, schedule, and
budget, our services have been performed in accordance with generally accepted geotechnical
engincering und engineering gcologY practices in effect in this area at the time our report was
prepared. No other warranry, cxpress or implied, is made. It must be undcrstood tlat no
rccommendations or enginecring design can yield a guarantee of stable slopes. Our
observations, findings, and opinions are a mcans ro identify and reducc the inherenl risks to thc
ovner.
PROJLCT AND SITE DL'SCRIPTION
The subject site consists of an existing two-stor' homr on a rectangular-shaped lot located a
4711 West Glenhaven Drive in Bverett, Washington (Pigure 1). It is our widerstanding that
lhc owner is interested in constructing a new porch extending off of die east side of the existing
residence. 1'he porch will utilize post-type foundations that will cxtend several feet bclow
eaisting sitc grades.
1'hc property slopes down to tlic east, vith minor grading performed just east of tlte housc. Just
east of the proposed ncw deck, ve observed a small, approximately 6-inch-high slwnp, likely
indicative of setdement of previously placed fill soils in that area. 'I'he slopcs are generally mild
adjacent to the house, but were observcd to esceed approximately 40 percent atong tlie eastern
properiy boundary. The castern Property boundary runs east toward a ravine locaed of(
properry. No topograpliic survey was available at the time of our s[udy, but we estimatc that
elevation differentials from the western to eastern properry boundarics arc on the order of aUout
25 feet. Glevation differcntials in the icinity of tlie proposed porch are less than a fcw feet, but
dic slopes are signiflcantly steeper extending into Ue rainc.
Iid.Lmdl)II'uc•911Piltlt:\cnuc.\uirlUO•Iiil:l,md.\\;\ 9tillii•I'l?iIS2-'-01 •P(2i1ti2--ii?i / y
I-nru(lllir•_'911I/_'llicin:\ccnuc.Suitr' I'riru.\\S ')ti_'01 •Pllil_'i9.Ui•:lj.i_'i)—'S_':1.j08 /
c acvv i.0 nn
