The <br /> pavement of the roadway should be graded to slope away from the block wall or a curb should be <br /> built along the block-wall sidc edge of th�pavement to keep ruuotl'from reachin�the block wall. <br /> Storm runoi°should bc captured with catch basins installed in the roadway and drained away <br /> with an underground drain line system. <br /> Structural Fill <br /> Structural fill is the fill that support structural or traffic load. Structural fill shoula consist of <br /> clean granulur soils free of organics, debris and other deleterious substances, with particles not <br /> larger than four inches. Structural fill shouid have a moisture content within onc percent of its <br /> o,�timum moisture content at the time of placement. The optimum moisture wntent is the water <br /> content in thc soil U�at enable thc soil to be compacted to thc highest dry density for a given <br /> compaction cff'ort. Onsite clean soils meeting to above requirements may be used as structural <br /> fill. Crushcd rock fill and soil structural fill should be placed in IiRs no more than 10 inches <br /> thick in loose state, with cach lift compacted to at least 95% of the maximum dry density <br /> detcrniined by ASTM U 1557 (Modificd Proctor method). <br /> Gcogrid Mesh <br /> Fach layer of geogrid mesh should ix� laid on levei bar,kfill surface, with one end securcly <br /> anchored between hvo rows of blocks, stretched tight, and the other cnd staked down prior to thc <br /> pl�cement oP thc next lifl of b�ckfill.
